I’ll try and answer the questions…

Michael looked really crushed in the studio there. I don’t have much hope for him at the moment but he could well move on to the rocking out stage of his grief process. Looking at the taster of episode 4 I’m thinking that’s what will happen.

Steve Perry. I think that dogs are normally a good judge of character and normally have a sixth sense when it comes to the supernatural. Look at the way they carried on. He is from the dark side. No doubt about it.

I think Donald has indulged in too many drinks at the posthumous birthday celebration. He’s probably just at another stage of the grieving process.

I have a question. What’s with the chipmunk?

      Hah!

      “Dear God…. I hope it’s smooth…!”

Poor Michael. Just when he thought he was fitting in with the cool kids… Let’s keep him in our thoughts until episode 4 reveals his path.

I think you’re dead on about Steve Perry. The dogs, and there’s something about all that red satin…

Apparenlty Donald Fagan always sounds like that…..?

The chipmunk is all to do with Caddyshack. Ya must’ve seen it…. Pesky little critters…

Oh he does? Hmm, I wonder what’s up with him. Maybe he is the creative genius behind the band? Kind of like a much better off Steven Hawking.

Yeah, that red satin is straight out of the Devil’s lair.

I must have seen Caddyshack. For the life of me I can’t remember it though…

I’ll light a candle just for Michael.

Oh, that’s beautiful. I’m going to do the same. Might have to get a dripless one though, because last time there was a blackout, I used candles and I dripped wax all over the carpet. Any good tips for getting wax out of carpet? I have a house inspection in two weeks….

Donald Fagan is the creative genius behind the band. Kinda of tells you a lot, doesn’t it? Stephen Hawking, indeed. They’re coming to Perth soon. I wish someone would buy me a ticket, then I could find out for myself.

I haven’t seen Caddyshack for decades, but I do remember a recurring chipmunk causing a lot of problems on the golf course….

      *Consults little book called Spotless*

You need: Ice, blunt knife, metal comb, paper towel, hairdryer.
Method: Put ice on the wax to harden it then scrape as much away as possible with a blunt knife. Wedge the metal comb underneath the wax and put a paper towel on top of the wax. Then use a hairdryer over it. The paper towel will absorb the wax. Repeat until all the wax is removed.

Ahh, he is the creative genius? I had no idea. So there is some method to my line of thinking after all…

Ah, you’re a gem. It’s sucha thin drip that I could probably skip the knife and comb and just go to the hairdryer and paper town. It’s about 40cm long though. Ugh. Stoopid me for not putting a plate under it. Got a bit panicky in the dark…

I so want to go to that Steely Dan concert. I could dress up in my best yachting gear. Teehee.

Good luck with getting it out. I’ve never tried it, hope it works.

Haha, it would be a shame to have that yachting gear just lying in the closet not being used. You must go. You’ll be swimming in sadness if you miss it.

    9. Vanessa said,

      May 4, 2007 at 11:15 am

      I would, I know.

I’ve swum in the sea of sadness before and nobody swam over to resuce me. All hope was gone. I wouldn’t want that to happen again.

Oh no. I can just picture you sitting with your head in your hands and a perplexed look on your face while you say that.

I just realised there was no montage in this episode. No Hall and Oates either. I suppose Donald Fagan was a good substitute.

I know! I think Yacht Rock went a bit off the boil for a couple of episodes there…. although it’s all obviously integral to the story. I watched the next one today though and it’s a blast. A few old faces make a comeback… and the new ones are pretty good too, hehe.

      I shall say no more!

    12. Jules said,

      May 4, 2007 at 12:57 pm

Where are all the other comments? Don’t tell me we are the only ones who appreciate Yacht Rock. C’mon people!

Ah wait, it’s still night time in the US.

    13. Vanessa said,

      May 4, 2007 at 1:03 pm

I know! I do suspect it’s only us who appreciates it, though…[sigh] It’s always the way…

Although Jennifer wanted to marry me after seeing the first episode….haha.

      Yeah, come on people!

Or I’ll start waxing lyrical about Cat Stevens…

    14. Jules said,

      May 4, 2007 at 1:07 pm

Oooh, I could wax lyrical about Cat Stevens! I used to look at the album cover of Tea For The Tillerman for HOURS when I was young. It’s one of my all-time, warm, fuzzy, happy memories albums.

      Wakey wakey Jennifer!

    15. Vanessa said,

      May 4, 2007 at 1:10 pm

Lovely! I just had Tuesday’s Dead on. Love it……

Hey, I have a question. You watched Extras, right? The song in the closing credits, which has been stated as I think it was Tea for the Tillerman, is NOT that song. I downloaded it. I only have it on vinyl and can’t remember what it is…..

Is there another song called Tea for the Tillerman?

Know the one I’m talking about?

    16. Jules said,

      May 4, 2007 at 1:19 pm

I think that was a cover by Chris Martin. I can’t remember how it sounded now. I think I only have the original on vinyl.

Michael Franti and Spearhead – Ganja Baby. Why can’t I start dreaming about him?

    17. Vanessa said,

      May 4, 2007 at 1:25 pm

Hehe, Michael Franti is quite possibly the coolest man on the planet. Not to mention that voice….(I have a thing for voices)..

Naw, I’m sure it was Cat Stevens. It sounds like him. Not at all like Chris Martin. It’s just not the same song at all. Totally different. Lyrically and musically. Bugger. I really want to know what it is….

Remember…. “Oh how the children play… for that happyyyy day… for that haaappy day”

      Kasabian – Reason is Treason

Ooh, now it’s Roger Voudouris – Get Used To It. Heh, I’m such a dag.

    18. Jules said,

      May 4, 2007 at 1:36 pm

I think Chris Martin did a cover of it in that episode he was in. Hmm, I dunno… Those lyrics are for Tea for the Tillerman though. Maybe it’s just another version. God, I wish I could remember what it sounds like on Extras…

Yeah, I love Franti’s voice. He is just so cool, and down to earth and all that. Mmmmmm.

I have no idea who Roger Voudouris is. Sounds kinda daggy though, hehe.

The Rolling Stones – Some Girls. Fuck, I love this song.

    19. Vanessa said,

      May 4, 2007 at 1:41 pm

You must have heard ‘Get Used to It’ coz I’l be arooounddd… A shocker from the ’70’s. In the clip he was standing n a studio with wind in his flicked hair and a rather vibrant red jumper…

See, I reckon there must be two Tea for the Tillermans…. I must investigate further…

Yay for the Stones! I love that song too!

      Led Zeppelin – Kashmir

      Brilliant.

    20. Jules said,

      May 4, 2007 at 1:45 pm

I had Moby Dick on a minute ago but moved it on. Wasn’t in the mood for the drum solo. I like Kashmir though.

I’m curious about Tea for the Tillerman (from here on known as TFTT – tired of typing it, heh) too now.

Can’t bring Get used to It to mind. It’s not on YouTube either. Bloody hell. I was looking forward to that flicked hair in the wind, hehe.

OOOOH! You have to look up Love Is The Drug on YouTube. It’s a cracker! It’s in my favourites…

    22. Vanessa said,

Aww yeah! You know Roxy Music have a new album coming out WITH Brian Eno…. I wonder what that will be like?

      I’lll check it now.

Oh, you have to check out some of the clips I have of Bowie. Truly fantastic clips of him on The Old Grey Whistle Test, that were never released until about 10 years after they were recorded. SO GOOD. I think it was that show. It’s Oh You Pretty Things, Queen Bitch and Five Years. Five Years is so very, very good. They’re all on the DVD I got for my birthday. I was beyond thrilled…

Revoltiing Cocks – Beers, Steers and Queers

I just had a look. I can’t believe Roger isn’t on there! Everybody knows that song….

    23. Vanessa said,

      May 4, 2007 at 1:57 pm

Is it the first Love is the Drug clip?

    24. Jules said,

      May 4, 2007 at 2:02 pm

Cool, I’ll have a look at them. I’m not a huge fan of David Bowie but a fan nonetheless. He had his great moments, got a bit crap in the eighties though. So did Roxy Music. I wonder what their album will be like too. I hope they go back to their 70’s sound again.

Radiohead – High and Dry. The Bends has to be one of my all time favourite albums. Pure bliss.

    25. Jules said,

      May 4, 2007 at 2:12 pm

Ah, sory. Missed your last message there. It’s the second one. Love those backing singers!

    26. Vanessa said,

      May 4, 2007 at 2:12 pm

The Bends is it. I adore that album. Yah yah all you people with your OK Computer….

Those Bowie clips were recorded in 1972, or 73, I think.

Roxy Music changed bigtime in the 80’s… and I did like a few of their songs from that time, but mostly to do with incessant rotation by my father… With Eno, they may surprise us. The Stooges just released a new album too. With Iggy.

That clip was fanastic. How good did those back up singers look, yet the sound was so bad. hehe. Love it. I favourited it….

Oh, Andrews Sisters – Straighten Up and Fly Right

    29. Jules said,

      May 4, 2007 at 2:45 pm

So glad you love The Bends too! Ok computer is alright but The Bends is far better in my opinion.

I reckon Eno being on the new album will definitely mean a return to their seventies sound. Hopefully!

I haven’t heard The Stooges new album yet. I should d/l it sometime.

Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton – Islands in the Stream. Who’s being daggy now. Hah!

    30. Vanessa said,

      May 4, 2007 at 2:50 pm

Oh! Oh! I bought the latest copy of Mojo today at the newsagents… and it has a cd on it which is a Stooges mix tape i.e. it was all chosen by Iggy. Looks like there’s some really godd stuff on it. I love those magazines…

Hehe, I’ve got Islands in the Stream here somewhere, although the live version by the BeeGees is better, I think. Check that one out…

You want daggy? I’ve got the Spice Girls… Stop! pfffhehehe

Just changed to Elvis Costello – Alison

      You’re right sweets…. Hey Yuri!.. Hehe…

I’ve been educating Andrew on various musical things… like the entirity of Nevermind, after we watched a doco on it a few weeks ago…

… and now we’re listening to a great and meaningful song in the Australian canon…. From Little Things, Bit Things Grow. It’s beautiful song and incredibly meaningful in regards to Aboriginal/white Australian relations… I didn’t even realise quite how much so it was until now… I’ve been educated…

      Soon indeed xxxx
