I Got Flowers!

I am overjoyed.

No, nobody gave me flowers. I would be too busy dying of a heart attack if that happened, to post a blog.

I have flowers in my garden. Flowers that I planted myself.

FOR REAL, TRUE BLUE, FAIR DINKUM…

flowers.

I know it’s not quite normal to get excited over a few flowers. The world is full of flowers, after all… but if you had my appalling track record when it comes to having a level of responsibility high enough to keep a plant alive, you too would be excited. I could murder a plant at 20 paces just by looking at it. I’ve even killed a freaking cactus.

Strangely enough, I’ve never had the same problem with weeds…

I’m dead impressed that most of my bulbs have come up. Half the tulips are yet to be seen, but the jonquils are flowering already and the hyacinth’s are bursting forth.

Oh, check out the carrots. Remember the first one I pulled? You can just see that they’re ALL going to look like that. Poor little carrots.

Did you like my little slideshow? Apologies if the spinning photo’s made you dizzy, but they remind me of that spinning segue effect in the original Batman and I couldn’t resist. You gotta love the original Batman. Here’s the trailer for the 1966 movie. If you’ve never seen it, it’s a must. Hilarious.

Watch out for the Exploding Man Eating Shark. Holy sardine!!

Fantastic.

So.

I have now given birth to vegetables, flowers and cats.

Next stop……….children!

Eh, maybe not.

I don’t think anyone who includes Batman and carrots in the same blog, is qualified to be a parent.

Geez, Vanessa. You will attract weird google requests by putting batman and flowers in a same post. 😀
    Congrats for your flowers !

Brian – Are you saying that Adam West wasn’t the Olivier of his generation? Actually, that’s a really bad analogy because Olivier was terribly hammy on screen for the most part.

I have this movie on dvd. It makes me happy.

modobs – Yay for search engine requests! I still need to get around to making a decent shortlist of what I’ve got so far…

    Cheers, love 😀

Nice flowers, but I think we call them daffodils instead of jonquils.

Oh my, that slideshow certainly left me with mild hallucinations.

I had flowers once, in my younger years *sigh*

I have two cats now living in my backyard. They’re cool! Somehow I went from living with one other person, to now having my mother here, my girlfriend, my female dog (bitch,if you will), and now two cat ladies in the backyard.

Maybe I’m just a guy who loves attention, LOL

Vanessa, you’ve got to teach me how to use this sight effectively, God knows I’m trying!

Vanessa, you have just scored such major cool points you can’t even begin to know.

You have the original Batman on DVD.

    I can do better, though.

I’ve got CDs of William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy singing.

Life, you gotta admit, is definitely sweeter with stuff like that out there.

April, no they are jonquils. Daffodils are a much larger flower, but still yellow. Daffodil’s baby sister, if you will…. 🙂

Bri – Poosycats! Yay! Your mother is there? Interesting… I would be asking questions, but maybe they would not be appropriate in this particular setting. How big is your bitch now? Hah.

I would be most pleased to give you a hand. I remember quite clearly how confusing this place was at first. Took me a couple of weeks to get my head around it completely. And there is stuff that is just not obvious, nor answered in the FAQ. Once you get it, it’s good. Email me… or I’ll see if I can catch you on YIM.

You are so right, Richard. I do not have cd’s of William and Leornard, but I do have a few mp3’s. Having a hard copy is much cooler though, I would say. If I saw either of them in the bargain bin, I’d pick them up in a trice.

Visit Shatner’s website. He’s still “singing” (you couldn’t really call it singing, could you?) – I loved his version of Pulp’s ‘Common People’ a couple of years ago.

Okay, your cool points just went into orbit, Vanessa! You’ve got the mp3s of William and Leonard.

All the cool kids must live in Australia.

    Woohoo! Spacewalking is fun.

Hey, Richard – I think my comments on your blog are going to spam. I’ve tried to post one on your latest, twice and it won’t show up. Spam spam spam spam spam.

I’ll have the eggs, bacon, spam, spam, and spam, please.

I saw the second half of that movie on TV recently. It’s been years since I’ve seen the full movie. Such brilliant acting. Such a shame that the giant rubber shark could out act both Batman and Robin.

  14. Vanessa said,

Oh, it’s wonderful. The brilliant technicolour, the atrocious acting, the cheesy dialogue, the cheap and gaudy props and sets. And it’s both intentionally AND unintentionally funny. Can’t ask for much more than that…

That shark should have won an Oscar.

Isn’t flower gardening fun? Our dog ruled the backyard for almost 15 years and died a few months ago. I’ve planted two large flowerbeds since then, including plants that attract butterflies…and a monarch showed up yesterday! So I do understand your excitement. I think I’m hooked…

  18. Vanessa said,

    July 11, 2007 at 4:05 am

Oh, yes! I’m glad somebody understands it, hah! I wasn’t all that keen on planting flowers, because I’ve always seen them as a bit useless in comparison to vegetables. I’m very new at this whole gardening thing. I really wanted to try some bulbs, though… and now that I’m seeing blooms, I’m seeing what people get so excited about.

Yay for butterflies. My name is a genus of butterfly. I feel an odd afffinity….

    Thanks for dropping by… 🙂

I love gardening, too. I just don’t like the dirt part…and the watering part…and the weeding part…oh, yeah, and I’m not that keen on planting, either…and the fertilizing part could definitely go…

    Never mind. I hate gardening.

Hah. You sound like me 6 months ago.

    I had an epiphany….

I LOVE the planting part. And the dirt part. Those are the best part. Especially when you’re naked. Apart from the watching them grow, part. I keep it simple. Plant in containers. Plant stuff you can eat. I self-watering pots.

But I know from experience that none of this will touch the sides without the epiphany…

Good evening and welcome tonight to “Naked Gardening.” Tonight, Richard Morgan will show you the proper way to use pruning shears when cropping your roses in the altogether…

I can see the Brits coming up with a show like that. Naughty, naughty… what ho!

It’s more about feeling the sunshine on your skin and that strangely organic and sensual feeling of playing naked in the dirt. Do stay away from sharp objects…

  23. July 12, 2007 at 3:18 am

I’ll bet your neighbors spend a lot of time outside when you’re gardening.

  24. Vanessa said,

…and swimming. I’ve only ever worn bathers once in my swimming pool and that was because I had company.

Actually, my garden is quite private. I think. Ahem.

  25. July 12, 2007 at 3:50 am

Okay, now we are on the same wavelength. Swimming needs to be done in the nude. No doubt about it. And that’s even when there’s company over. Unless it’s John Howard. John hates to skinny-dip.

“Bathers.” You make me laugh, Aussie Girl.

  26. Vanessa said,

    July 12, 2007 at 3:56 am

What do you call them? “Swimming trunks?” *snort*

That time I wore bathers, my cousins were over. My young, impressionable cousins do not need to see me naked…

Oh, John hates skinny dipping. He has things to hide, you know.
